For a very long time, the iRacing community have wanted an updated LMP2 car to replace the current Honda Performance Development ARX 01c, which got released back in 2011.
With rFactor 2 having the Oreca 07, the pressure on iRacing have increased and back in May, iRacing President Tony Gardner told the public that they were working on a new LMP2, and now there’s more news about the upcoming addition to the platform.

Yesterday, iRacing put out a tweet with a model that looks very much like the Dallara P217 LMP2 car which is runs in the World Endurance Championship and made the base for the Cadillac DPi which runs in the IMSA series.
It will surely give a must needed boost to iRacing in both sprint and endurance races. The Dallara P217 could be implemented into at least 3 series. The iRacing Le Mans Series and endurance series to replace the HPD and the IMSA series to replace the outdated Chevrolet Corvette C7 Daytona Prototype.

When will it be released? A guess could be already in the next build around mid to end August, but time will tell. One thing is for sure.
The new LMP2 car will by many be a long awaited addition to iRacing.
